THE ROLE

A senior opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead complex electrical designs across a high-profile and varied project portfolio. You'll take ownership of designs from concept through to completion, manage key client relationships, and play a pivotal role in shaping the future direction of the electrical team within a consultancy that puts sustainability and innovation at the heart of everything it does.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the electrical design of complex, multi-disciplinary building services projects across healthcare, education, commercial and industrial sectors through all RIBA stages
  • Produce and review LV power, lighting, fire alarm, security and data/communications designs, ensuring quality, compliance and sustainability targets are met
  • Undertake electrical load calculations, cable sizing, protection coordination and fault level studies
  • Champion the integration of low carbon electrical solutions including EV infrastructure, PV, battery storage and smart building systems
  • Act as technical lead and primary client contact on multiple concurrent projects, managing scope, programme and quality
  • Oversee BIM/Revit MEP model development and ensure full electrical coordination across all disciplines
  • Prepare, review and issue tender packages, specifications and detailed drawing sets
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers within the electrical team
  • Carry out site visits during the construction phase to review installations, resolve technical queries and support contract administration
  • Contribute to business development efforts including bid writing, client presentations and sector networking
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Building Regulations, IET Wiring Regulations, industry standards and emerging low carbon technologies
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
  • 7+ years' experience in electrical building services design
  • Strong technical knowledge of LV power systems, lighting, fire alarm, security and data/communications design
  • Proven experience managing projects and client relationships
  • Proficiency in electrical design software and AutoCAD
  • Working knowledge of BIM/Revit MEP
  • Thorough understanding of IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and Building Regulations
  • Strong leadership, communication and mentoring skills
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng)
  • Member of IET, CIBSE or similar professional body
  • Experience with low carbon electrical systems (EV infrastructure, PV, battery storage)
  • Experience across healthcare, education, commercial or industrial sectors
  • Business development or bid writing experience
